BUILDING HISTORY
Architectural Iron Works
BUILDING HISTORY
- Building was constructed in 1914 off Gas Company Road in Taft, California by Midway Gas Company
- It originally housed compressors to pump natural gas
- At some point the building exploded and remaining parts were transported and reassembled in San Luis Obispo, CA by owner Arnold Teague
- Under Teague it served as a machine shop between 1958 - 1967
- In 1967 Hamlin Bridges purchased the building where they manufactured bridges for the military and municipal uses, thus the street being named “Bridge Street (15 ton crane that was used to move bridge parts still exists at the shop)
- In 2003, the Hamlin family leased the building to Architectural Iron Works, where we continue to use the facility to manufacture steel windows and doors.
