The History of Architectural Iron Works

Architectural Irons Works began in 1991 in a small welding shop in Ojai, California.  Jim Miller discovered after years in construction that there was room for custom, high quality steel frame windows and doors for some of his clients.  Bill Wyatt had a metal fabrication shop, Jim had the construction and design experience, and a client base that wanted steel frame doors and windows. Jim and Bill worked continually on their design and manufacturing process until is was perfected. They developed a proprietary finish that made a newly manufactured door or window look weathered and refined by time.

Architectural Irons Works moved to San Luis Obispo in 1997.  AIW has a classic metal building from the 1920's. The building was originally located in Bakersfield, CA, and was moved to San Luis Obispo in the 1930's.  AIW has 22,600 sq. ft. of manufacturing space.

AIW continues to set the standard for fine Steel Doors and Windows with a custom, hand applied Patina finish. You don't look through our product, you look at our product.
